JANE CARTNEY ART STUDIO & GALLERY

Jane Cartney also concentrates on her fine-art business in Weston-super-Mare where she is artist in residence, and where some of her paintings are currently on show, and where she has also organised and curated exhibition programmes promoting Scottish and West Country contemporary fine-art. Advanced singers with the practice attend private coaching sessions and masterclasses in the gallery where there is a rather nice old Broadwood grand piano.

The Sanctuary Garden

The Sanctuary Garden was designed and planted by Jane Cartney in 2003, and is now maturing well. The garden is laid out to a formal plan with beech, box and yew hedging, arches, seating, and symmetrical beds incorporating many rare and unusual trees and shrubs which give year round interest. The garden is planted and maintained on organic principles.  Visitors to the garden are welcome by prior appointment.   There is level but somewhat restricted access for wheelchairs (some paths have gravel chipping).

The large urn on pedestal lies at the centre point of the garden and this year is home to a cordyline australis ‘Torbay Red’.
